Abstract
Description
The primordial nature (mūlaprakṛti) does not evolve from any other principle (tattva), but other principles evolve from it. The set of seven principles including mahat are both evolvents (other principles evolve from them) and evolutes (they evolve from another principle), but the set of 16 [principles] are merely evolutes. The spirit neither arises from another principle, nor does any principle arise from it.
